Westside Classic Rules

Coaches are responsible for conduct of players and parents.
Tournament director reserves the right to remove anyone that is determined disruptive from the event.
All coaches and participants are expected to read the following rules.

Current U.S. Lacrosse Rules will apply, as well as the following clarifications:

Safety of players is a top priority.
Rules are written with the safety of all players being of the utmost importance.
Officials have the authority to penalize any foul, unsafe play, or unacceptable behavior. Youth lacrosse should be fun, challenging and safe.

A central horn will be used.

Length of games will be two 20-minute periods.
1-minute halftime. 4-minutes between each game. Teams are expected to be ready to play immediately after the previous game ends.

Running time. No timeouts. NONE!

Full checking is allowed in 2028 (or 28/29 Team) if there are two USL officials officiating, one of which must have a Local rating or higher.

Modified checking for 2030, 2031

a. The entire stick must be below the shoulder
b. The check must be down and away from the body
c. Offensive 3 seconds called if defense in checkable position.

A draw will be taken after each score.

No checking in 2032 & 2033
a. No checking allowed.
b. Offensive 3 seconds called if defense in checkable position.

Teams will limit the # of coaches on the bench area to 1 Head Coach and 1 Assistant Coach.
A red card must be given for an intentional check to the head during full check games.
2 Yellow Cards and player must sit the remainder of the game and may return to the next game.
Red Card and player must sit the remainder of the game AND the next game.

Coach receiving 2 yellow cards must leave sideline before game continues. May be asked to leave tournament. Coach or player receiving a Red card has to leave game and sit out next game. And may be asked to leave tournament. Refs have authority to regulate bench area. Refs have authority to end game early to keep games running on time.

All games will start will begin on time.
A central horn will be used to start and stop all games; including halftime.

Score will be kept at the table by a field marshal and reported to the scorer. (Unless showcase style, i.e. Westside)

No jewelry allowed on players, unless for medical purposes, which must be disclosed to the officials and opposing coach prior to the start of the game. All protective equipment must meet NOCSAE standards and be verbally certified by coach. Mouth guards must be worn at all times.

Coaches may not call timeouts. Officials may stop on field play for any reason he/she feels fit, examples include: serious injury, game equipment issues, sideline problems, etc. During this time, the clock will run.

If weather reaches certain temperature, then mandatory water breaks will be implemented.

All substitutions are handled on the fly or on a goal scored. If a shot is taken at the end of a half prior to the horn and the ball scores the goal WILL stand.

8-Meter Shots: WILL NOT be played if the horn sounds for the end of the game or half. No 8-Meters after horn blows.
If horn blows after a foul is called, and an 8-meter was awarded, the 8-meter will NOT be taken.
(EX: If a violation is called and an 8-meter awarded, and if the 8-meter is taken, and the horn sounds before the ball crosses the goal line, the goal will not count.)


Alternate possession. The team listed first on the schedule receives the first alternate possession. After the initial possession is awarded, the possession will then alternate.

1 YELLOW Card (on COACH) a player from the field must be taken off and sit for 2 minutes, running clock, the field marshal at the table will keep time. Only head coaches are allowed to speak to the officials throughout any tournament. Coaches are expected to communicate with and treat officials in a respectful manner, upholding the values and modeling good sportsmanship. This includes interactions between players, coaches, fans, and officials, as well as language and actions on the field, on the sidelines, in the stands, at the venue, and in the parking area before, during, and after the event.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
Inclement weather is out of the control of the tournament directors and officials. In the event of thunder and/or lightning, all games will be suspended for 20 minutes. Games will resume, in real time, 20 minutes after the last occurrence of thunder and/or lightening. Canceled games may not be rescheduled. If weather disrupts scheduled games, the Tournament Director will make every effort and has the sole authority to adjust the schedule as needed, including, shortening games, adjusting the schedule, etc. In the event of extreme weather, it is up to the tournament directors and officials as to whether the conditions are deemed safe to play on.

TOURNAMENT CANCELLATION POLICY DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

Tournaments can be an outdoor event and therefore are subject to the threat of inclement weather. In the event of weather that causes complete or significant cancellation of tournament play, Relentless Lacrosse reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to offer either partial refunds to participating teams or credits towards future participation in a Relentless Lacrosse event. There shall be no refunds for individual games or playoff games lost to weather delays or unplayable field conditions. Clubs will be notified if any weather related refund/credit shall be provided within 30 days following the event. Relentless Lacrosse shall not be responsible for refunding individual player fees paid to any given Club for participation in an event.

RELENTLESS LACROSSE INSURANCE POLICY & DISCLAIMER
Relentless Lacrosse is insured by US Lacrosse for general liability and accident insurance through RPS Bollinger (on the condition that the event operator, all players and head coaches are active US Lacrosse Members.) Through Bollinger Insurance, US Lacrosse provides exclusive on-the-field coverage for all US Lacrosse members participating in Relentless Lacrosse tournaments.

All players attending Relentless/NEL Lacrosse Tournaments must complete an online player registration, waiver and tournament release prior to participation. In order to complete the online form, all participants MUST provide a current US Lacrosse membership number and expiration date.



Captains, coaches or directors must provide a team roster which will include team name, player name, jersey number, address, and emergency contact phone number. Rosters must be submitted



Relentless Lacrosse will review the player registrations and waivers submitted from each team, and let captains, coaches or directors know the status or their team's compliance with player registration. It is the responsibility of captains, coaches or directors to make sure that all players have completed the Relentless Lacrosse tournament participation player registration, waiver and US Lacrosse membership verification.
